We\u2019re so glad you want to get involved!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The National Autism Network is a space where Autistic people, families, service providers, researchers, and others with lived and living or professional experience come together to help shape priorities and create meaningful change.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

By taking part, you\u2019re helping to make sure the perspectives and experiences of Autistic people and their families are at the centre of Canada\u2019s Autism Strategy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There are many ways to get involved.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

There are two types of memberships in the National Autism Network (the Network).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Governance Members:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n\n ⓘ\n \n

Governance refers to how a not-for-profit organization is run and how decisions are made.<\/p>\n

One of the most important parts of governance is the board of directors. This group of people helps the organization stay true to its vision and mission.<\/p>\n

As a Governance member of the Network, it means you get to vote for who sits on the board of directors.<\/p>\n <\/span>\n<\/span>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

  • Autistic People \u2013 Those with first-person experience<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Family Members of Autistic People \u2013 Those with second-person experience including parents, siblings, spouses, or other unpaid supporters.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

    General Members:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

      \n
    • Professionals and Other Individual Interest-holders – including healthcare practitioners, educators, researchers, etc.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • Organizations \u2013 national, regional, municipal, and community based\n
        \n
      • You only need to sign up your organization as a member one time.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

        What are the benefits of membership?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

        All members<\/strong> will receive Network updates and invitations to participate in ongoing engagement activities that help shape the Network\u2019s recommendations for the implementation of Canada\u2019s Autism Strategy. These activities may include in-person and virtual events, surveys, and the annual community report. All members will be notified when final Network reports are released to government.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

        Members can also apply to join the Board of Directors, a Standing Advisory Council, or a Strategic Priority Committee.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

        Governance Members – Autistic persons and family of Autistic persons<\/strong> will be invited to the annual general meeting and are eligible to vote in the election of the Board of Directors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

        A Board of Directors is made up of people who help guide and oversee the work of the Network. They are responsible for making sure the Network stays true to its vision of “a Canada where the lived and living experiences of Autistic people and their families shape policies, systems, and communities to ensure full inclusion, equity, and opportunity at every stage of life.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

        General Members – Professionals and other individual interest-holders<\/strong> are eligible to apply to join a Standing Advisory Council or Strategic Priority Committee and will receive Network updates and invitations to all Network activities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

        General Members – Organizations<\/strong> will receive Network updates and notifications of upcoming engagement activities that help shape the Network’s recommendations for the implementation of Canada’s Autism Strategy to share with their organization.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n
