SUMMARY:Embracing Neurodiversity Conference
DESCRIPTION:Canada has released a National Autism Strategy.  \nThe next step is listening to Autistic people and communities across the country.  \nThe National Autism Network  is coming to St. John’s\, Newfoundland and Labrador\, to hear directly from community members about what Canada’s Autism Strategy should look like in practice in Newfoundland and Labrador for Autistic people of all ages.  \nOn May 20\, 2026\, the Network will be presenting at the Embracing Neurodiversity Conference\, hosted by the Autism Society of Newfoundland and Labrador (ASNL).  \nThe following day\, the Network and ASNL will host a free community engagement session. This session will bring people together to share their experiences and help shape the next steps for Canada’s Autism Strategy.  \nYou do not need to attend the conference to join the engagement session. Everyone is welcome to take part.  \nCommunity Engagement Event Details  \nDate: May 21\, 2026  \nTime: 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM Newfoundland Time  \nLocation: Emera Innovation Exchange\, 100 Signal Hill Rd\, St. John’s\, NL A1A 1B3.   \nYou can also join online through Zoom.   \nThis session continues the conversations from the Embracing Neurodiversity Conference. It will be smaller and more interactive\, with time to discuss what Canada’s Autism Strategy should look like in practice.  \nIn this session\, you can:  \n\nShare your experiences and perspectives \n\n\nDiscuss what supports are needed in Newfoundland and Labrador \n\n\nIdentify what is working well and what needs to change. \n\nWho this session is for  \nWe want to hear from:   \n\nAutistic people \n\n\nFamilies and caregivers \n\n\nService providers \n\n\nCommunity members \n\nHow to register  \nRegister here for the community engagement session  \nPlease note: Registration for this session is separate from registration for the Embracing Neurodiversity Conference.  \nIf you wish to attend both\, you will need to register for each one separately.
